“I’ll take care of you” - Steven Curtis Chapman

This painting touches my heart in ways I cannot understand. May be it’s the togetherness, loving presence of each family member. May be it’s because of their dog, Richie, reminded me so much of my late Star. May be this is the very definition of “family” itself.

After Richie’s passing early this year 2020, I got to meet Winnie, his owner, through the recent animal-talk session. We connected straight away as both of us had experienced the lost of our beloved fur friends. I offered to paint a portrait of her family and Richie. Through out the whole painting process, Richie’s presence was so strongly felt. It’s as though he’s still around, watching over Winnie and her family. After sharing my thought to Winnie, she told me she felt the exact same way! We both were so certain that Richie is reaching out to her with reassurance that her family will be taken care of. Hence, the song “I’ll take care of you” came up.
